Countrysides of the Future Papers are invited for a 'Countrysides of the Future' session to be held at the 2003 AAG conference in New Orleans (March 4-8, 2003). This session aims to explore the trends, visions and challenges that currently frame discussions about the future of rural areas. The convenors welcome papers that consider how the culture, society and economy of rural areas are currently being imagined and projected within different discursive realms: from popular discourses of film, television and literature through to public policy discourses on sustainable rural landscapes, as well as within radical / oppositional movements. Papers are also welcome that consider the status of historical projections / visions of contemporary countrysides, as well as the development of methods for talking about rural futures, such as scenario building, futurology and deliberation. Please send a paper abstract of no more than 350 words, including title, no later than 31st July 2002 to: Rob Fish Keith Halfacree School of Geography Department of Geography University of Nottingham University of Wales Swansea University Park Singleton Park Nottingham Swansea NG7 2RD UK SA2 8PP UK [log in to unmask] [log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]>
