RELATING USABILITY REQUIREMENTS AND EVALUATION TECHNQUES TO CULTURAL
DIFFERENCES

Faculty of Creative Arts and Technologies

Bursary: =A38,220 pa
Initially two years for MPhil with a further year for completion of PhD

This project will focus on cross-cultural issues within the usability of
software systems. It will investigate both ways in which relevant knowledge
can be elicited to assist design, and how evaluation techniques meet
cultural requirements. The project will look at the problem-space in a
bipolar study (possibly India / UK) depending on the skills and interests o=
f
the successful applicant. It will investigate problems with current
web-sites, using established and more novel methods.  The aim would be woul=
d
be to relate evaluation methods with indigenous cultural requirements.

Candidates will be expected to have a good honours degree in a relevant
discipline, an ability to work across disciplinary boundaries experience in
research methods and be able to demonstrate the intellectual capacity to
establish a personal research profile.
