LT courses 6.1 Researching Learning Technology Summer School University College London This newly-validated short course has been designed to provide a supportive, hands-on environment in which people can gain experience of using and doing research into the use of learning technology. It is aimed at support staff whose job involves the use of learning technology (e.g. learning technologists, staff developers, project officers, librarians, technicians, teaching assistants), but may also be of interest to academics new to the area. The course has been designed to be accessible to participants nationally, balancing the richness of face-to-face sessions against the need to travel. For this reason, the course mixes one-day workshops (either 19th August, 20th August, 7th October, 25th November OR 2nd September, 3rd September, 21st October, 9th December) with individual work and online discussion. At the heart of the Summer School is the opportunity for participants to carry out some research into their own practice, with one-to-one support and advice from the course tutors. The course is structured around the research process, from reading and drawing up a proposal through the practice of research and on to presenting and writing about the findings. This means that the course can be used as a "dry run" for a conference paper and/or a journal submission. The Summer School can be counted towards the Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or MA in Learning Technology Research offered by UCL. Questions and requests for further information can be sent to Martin Oliver ([log in to unmask]); booking forms and information about the named awards can be found at www.ucl.ac.uk/epd/masters/maltr.html ---------------------------------------- Best wishes Rhonda Rhonda Riachi, Director Association for Learning Technology Oxford Brookes University Headington, Oxford, OX3 0BP, UK Tel: +44 (0)1865 484126 Fax: +44 (0)1865 484165 Email: [log in to unmask] URL: http://www.alt.ac.uk/ Registered Charity number 1063519 ALT-C 2002, 9-11 September 2002: www.alt-c2002.org.uk
