job at manchester -1Visiting Professorship in Tectonics School of Earth and Environmental Sciences (SEES) Seoul National University, Korea The School of Earth and Environmental Sciences (SEES) at Seoul National University has an immediate opening for visiting professorship in tectonics. This position is a part of the special program implemented by the Korean government to invite and hire world’s leading scientists in selected fields of science to boost the basic science research in Korea. There are currently forty-one full-time faculty members and ca.150 graduate students in the SEES. The Seoul National University and the BK21 (Brain Korea 21) program will provide adequate research support for visiting scientists and graduate students. The salary will vary depending on the qualification and experience of the applicants, and ranges from approximately $50,000 to 75,000 U.S. per year. The successful candidate is expected to conduct vigorous research on selected fields of tectonics, possibly in collaboration with the faculty member in the SEES, and teach one or two graduate courses per semester in English. Of particular interest are the individuals who have outstanding publication records, preferably dealing with tectonics-related problems in metamorphic terranes. This appointment will be made from assistant to full professor’s rank, depending on the candidate’s experience and research record. Initial appointment will be for one year, but renewable up to the maximum of three years. If the research performance of the applicant at Seoul National University is outstanding, this position may be converted into a tenure-track professorship.
