(apologies also for cross-posting)

Well, a generous but strange offer. Obviously archaeologists' pay cannot be
as bad everywhere as would seem to be suggested from the comments on some
archaeology discussion lists ! (Unless of course these "professional
archaeologists" are involved in some sort of practices which are highly
lucrative but we would rather not know about - which might explain why they
wish to remain anonymous.)

Assuming that one has some twisted desire to give 25-1000 dollars of
one's own money to make these nameless people cough up another, since the
duplicate donations in this "challenge" are to be made anonymously I would
like to know how one can know that this is not just a scam ? How will I know
that mine is not the only money that is in reality going to swell the
coffers of this organization?

This is not about "The Value of Archaeology" but "Give us Some Money". I
would like to know how many grants from official archaeological bodies and
institutions the so-called "Archaeological Legacy Institute" has applied for
and received to support its work "communicating the value of archaeology to
the public" ? A list of these would perhaps help us decide whether to join
them in supporting this cause.
