Although I didnt catch the whole conversation I think there was some
discussion about reducing/minimising swelling after ankle sprains.

Over the weekend I attended a lecture by Professor Rolf (Senior Ortho
Consultant and head of the Sports Medicine specialist unit in Sheffield,
UK-formerly worked in Hong Kong and Sweden)who has done a great deal of work
on this subject, he maintains that the immediate application of an elastic
bandage (fully stretched)is essential for minimising swelling and rehab
time. He recommends athletes should always have an elastic bandage
immediately to hand. He feels rest, ice and elevation have much smaller
roles to play. I don't have any of his research to hand, but I know he did a
lot of research on this subject in Sweden and I think worked to set up
national treatment guidelines.

On another note, his repairs of achilles ruptures is excellent, with full
range of movement and ability to plantar flex in weight bearing 6 weeks post
op.....
