On the other hand, you have posed this as an ethical question, so I don't suppose there are any clearcut answers.  Sorry - I'm not much help, am I! Joy.

Subject: ethical question

Greetings all,

I'd appreciate peoples thoughts on an ethical issue that was raised during a recent discussion in which I was involved.
If a counsellor is being interviewed as part of a police investigation into an allegation made about the counsellor by a client, would the counsellor be still bound by the duty of confidentiality towards the client, or would the client be reasonably considered to have waived the right to have confidentiality maintained?

Many thanks
Carl
