The recent interesting correspondence on the
subject of county boundaries puts me in mind to ask the following.
Does anyone know of a straightforward
published list of the alterations that have been made to county boundaries
between 1844 and 1974 - ie something in the form of:
parish X was
moved from county A to county B on such and such a date as a consequence
of such and such Act of Parliament.
One can of course obtain this information by going
through Kelly's Directories, or other such sources, if only one had the time,
but surely somewhere someone has already done this and put together a
simple listing, presumably chronologically arranged?
