I have opted for the Case Paper (AQA Economics) because I am the only teacher in the department, and I am a new teacher, and felt that there was not enough guidance/support for me to guide students in an appropriate way. I like the Case Study - I feel that it is an opportunity to study Europe in reasonable detail - otherwise the specification is a little light in this area. This week's TES has an article about how little students know about Europe.... maybe the Case Study will help in some small way. The teacher's guide and specification are fairly good at setting the boudaries, and there are plenty of books/resources around that give information on the current Case Study subject. ~My students enjoy it too - they are up to their eyes in enough coursework without Economics adding to it. Just some personal thoughts. -----Original Message----- From: For teachers and lecturers interested in curriculum issues affecting the te [mailto:[log in to unmask]]On Behalf Of Robert Jones Sent: 15 March 2002 17:36 To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Coursework vs Case Paper Dear all, About this time of year my thoughts turn to whether or not all this effort for the coursework paper is really worth it. I often feel like it is me, rather than the pupil who is taking the A(2) level! Generally our pupils are good at preparing for exams but a nightmare at meeting work deadlines. Does anyone have any helpful advice regarding the case study paper? Is it a fair for good/weak candidates? Is it difficult to prepare? Etc...... Many thanks Rob Jones (Maiden email!)
