Dear all,

I am forwarding, with permission, this message from Xiaoming Liu of Old
Dominion University. These are results from Liu's work on ARC
(http://arc.cs.odu.edu) building on Open Archives Initiative work. I
believe that these quite broad statistics on DC usage should be of
general interests to the DC community. With the increasing number of OAI
implementers, we have a first chance to do wide-range evaluations of DC
usage. This is ripe ground for researchers interested in the utility of
distributed and home-brewed metadata.

Hi,

I have exported a preliminary statistic of metadata usage in
http://arc.cs.odu.edu/stat/index.html

One might conclude from these data that although controlled vocabularies
are widely used, the schemas used are extremely variant.

regards,
liu
