We are pleased to announce the launch of Qualidata's new Web site at http://www.qualidata.essex.ac.uk/ The new suite of Web pages have been re-designed to help facilitate navigation and include additional content and functionality. There are now simple to use top tabs divided into About, Resources, Re-use, Create, Deposit and News and side tab menus within each of these main headings. New features include: * Online User Guides available via the Qualicat catalogue record http://www.qualidata.essex.ac.uk/dataResources/qualicat.asp and via a dedicated page http://www.qualidata.essex.ac.uk/dataResources/mrdoc.asp. This freely available online documentation contains useful and often unique research and methodological information about the study in the form of a User Guide, and a Data Listing with classifying information that help users to identify particular types of interviews or transcripts. Whilst all new deposits will now have this form of online documentation routinely available, we are converting relevant older paper-based material to electronic format for every data collection where appropriate. * Create pages giving revised and up-to-date information on consent, confidentiality and legal issues http://www.qualidata.essex.ac.uk/creatingData/confidentiality.asp and a FAQ for ESRC award holders http://www.qualidata.essex.ac.uk/creatingData/esrc.asp#faq * Deposit pages with simplified overview on How to deposit with downloadable deposit forms http://www.qualidata.essex.ac.uk/depositingData/howtodeposit.asp * Pages on Re-using data including: a bibliography of articles about re-using qualitative data http://www.qualidata.essex.ac.uk/reusingData/articles.asp; ideas about using data in teaching and learning http://www.qualidata.essex.ac.uk/reusingData/teaching.asp; and information about training opportunities in the area of qualitative methods http://www.qualidata.essex.ac.uk/reusingData/training.asp * A News section detailing current events and related news. The news currently includes a report from the Symposium on Celebrating Classic Sociology: Pioneers of Contemporary British Qualitative Research held in July 2001 at Essex, together with abstracts from the conference, available online. News about recent deposits is also available http://www.qualidata.essex.ac.uk/news/recentdeposits.asp Please visit the site!
