Was prednisilone injected into the tendon?  If so, in sports medicine particularly, it is a well known fact that one does not inject corticosteroids into such structures; since some tissue necrosis develops resulting in rupture.

Beware of the corticosteroid wielding GP and/or "consultant?"!

Subject: prednisone and achilles tendon rupture

One of my clients using prednisone the last four months got achilles-tendon problems (both sides) during the last few weeks. Examining him I found that his left achilles-tendon was totally ruptured. This man could not remember an acute moment when this had happened. Has anyone an explanation for this?
And is there anyone who experienced in his or her practice a strong relation between prednisone and achilles tendon rupture?
