Pl. L. Lefevre and W. M. Grauwen, _Les statuts de Premontre au milieu du xiie siecle), later adopted by the Dominicans; Humbert of Romans in the mid-C13 deplored the variety of habits worn in practice by the early Dominicans and recommended greater uniformity (_Expositio magistri Humberti super constitutiones Fratrum Praedicatorum_, in J. J. Berthier, ed., _B. Humberti de Romanis Opera de Vita Regulari_).
