Louise, We had two Welsh supporters after the international who had pretty severe tachycardia. Actually they were hypocalcaemic also, Have you checked your chap's ECGS for QT ? any chance it was electrolyte induced ? There are also now some pretty good near patient testing kits for substances of misuse. It migth be worth getting a hold of some to use on him the next time he comes in. My experience with GHB (liquid ecstasy) is that many of them come in following a seizure and have indeed taken other substances. A group who also use Red Bull ? socially. May be worth screening for GHB best wishes John Dr John Ryan ----- Original Message ----- From: [log in to unmask] To: [log in to unmask] Sent: Monday, February 11, 2002 08:14 Subject: Red Bull I have a feeling this subject might have come up a while ago but cannot remember the details. We know red bull contains caffeine and taurine but does anyone have any experience of it causing fitting in a patient? We had a 19 year old lad who occasionally binges on it and then fits - we cannot get him to admit to any other substances though I am suspicious. Ideas gratefully received Louise Roberts T Wells PS Thank you all for help re mobile team insurance issues.
