The Third Pan-Pacific Conference on Rehabilitation Integrating Eastern and Western Concepts and Practices in Rehabilitation Dates: 23-25 August 2002 Venue: The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong The Department of Rehabilitation Sciences of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University has taken the lead to promote the practice of integrating the best of Chinese therapeutics into Western rehabilitation concepts and practices. It has formally established a Centre for East-meets-West in Rehabilitation Sciences in 1998, with a large "Area of Strategic Development Grant" from the University. This Conference is a major activity of the Centre, presenting the most-updated scientific information on rehabilitation sciences and practices, and facilitating further development through exchange of research materials and ideas in the East and West. Several key areas of rehabilitation will be addressed in the Conference, including those related to Chinese therapeutics, musculoskeletal and sports rehabilitation, pain management and psychosocial adjustment.
