The Third Pan-Pacific Conference on Rehabilitation
Integrating Eastern and Western Concepts and Practices in Rehabilitation
Dates: 23-25 August 2002
Venue: The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong

The Department of Rehabilitation Sciences of the Hong Kong Polytechnic
University has taken the lead to promote the practice of integrating the
best of Chinese therapeutics into Western rehabilitation concepts and
practices. It has formally established a Centre for East-meets-West in
Rehabilitation Sciences in 1998, with a large "Area of Strategic
Development Grant" from the University. This Conference is a major activity
of the Centre, presenting the most-updated scientific information on
rehabilitation sciences and practices, and facilitating further development
through exchange of research materials and ideas in the East and West.

Several key areas of rehabilitation will be addressed in the Conference,
including those related to Chinese therapeutics, musculoskeletal and sports
rehabilitation, pain management and psychosocial adjustment. We are
delighted that several world-class scientists have accepted our invitation
to be keynote speakers in the Conference.
