medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture I was wondering if, when and why Saint-Denis was ever a cathedral. I've seen it referred to as such, but it may be the old "a cathedral is a REALLY big church" syndrome. A friend who should have known better spoke once of the various cathedrals in (modern) Paris.
