I still feel that we are expecting far too much from VLEs and MLEs. They are NOT a replacement of the group and the teacher, they are 'JUST ANOTHER TOOL'. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a liar! I agree with Peter, don't believe the hype. Students/learners I have spoken to don't see the VLE as the 'Be all and end all' of their learning paths. Instead they see the VLE as a 'convenient' way of being tested and doing homeworks. Anyway, I can't remember the last time a survey was done on the use of a text book or school library, can you?
