Dear colleagues, Utrecht University, The Netherlands, is organizing next year (16-18 April 2003) the international conference Framing Land Use Dynamics: Integrating knowledge on spatial dynamics in socio-economic and environmental systems for spatial planning in western urbanized countries (see: website http://networks.geog.uu.nl/conference). For this conference one or two sessions will be prepared on long distance travel and urban systems. The objective of this session is to give answer to questions, such as: ·In what way can long distance travel in and between different countries be characterized? ·In what way can long-distance travel behavior be modelled? ·What are the consequences of long-distance travel for the development of cities and urban systems? The papers will be submitted for a special issue of a journal. We would like to ask you to consider the opportunity to submit a paper for this conference (deadline abstract October 1 2002). Many thanks.
