ADVANCED COURSES IN:

RAILWAY MANAGEMENT, (14/15 OCTOBER 2002)
RAILWAY ECONOMICS, (28/29 OCTOBER 2002) AND
RAILWAY PLANNING, (11/12 NOVEMBER 2002)

AT NEWCASTLE UNIVERSITY.

At a time when railways are of increasing interest to public
transport professionals, these courses aim to give participants a
better understanding of the operational and economic basis of the
railway industry in the UK and Europe. Key concepts in planning will
be linked to current issues and projects, including the Channel
Tunnel
Rail Link and railway privatisation. The main modelling techniques
will be demonstrated with practical examples. Also, the underlying
economics behind these examples will be covered, and the
management
processes required to implement projects whilst continuing to run a
fully operational railway.

Course Director: Dr. John D. Nelson, University of Newcastle
Course Lecturer: Dr. Nigel Harris, The Railway Consultancy
