> The RDN Virtual Training Suite is a FREE educational Web resource from

> Each tutorial covers Internet skills for a different subject taught in
> colleges and universities, and has been written by a lecturer or
> librarian with specialist knowledge of the Internet for that subject.

> We are offering a series of hands-on "train the trainers"/ "teach
> the teachers" workshops for FE staff keen to be involved in using the
> Internet as a resource for learning and teaching. The workshops will
> demonstrate how The RDN Virtual Training Suite can be integrated into
> college courses and support the delivery of IT Key Skills.

> They will also formally launch 11 new tutorials designed specifically
> for FE, due to be made available at the beginning of June.

> TARGET AUDIENCE

> Lecturers, tutors, learning resource centre/library staff, ILT
> champions, in FE as well as JISC RSC staff interested in learning how to
> use this resource, in particular those interested in running local
> training events to pass on news of this new resource to colleagues
> locally.

> OBJECTIVES

> By the end of these workshops participants will:

> - Have had hands-on experience of using the RDN Virtual Training Suite
>
> - Be able to run their own training events / teaching sessions in
> information literacy / Internet skills / IT Key Skills using the RDN
> Virtual Training Suite
>
> - Have participated in a session providing hints and tips on how to
> integrate this resource in teaching/training
>
> - Have received a complimentary workshop pack (containing handouts,
> Teachers Packs, posters, presentations) that can be freely copied and
> used to run local training events or classes
>
> - Understand the context of this resource in terms of other key JISC
> initiatives
>

> -  Setting the context: Internet skills, information literacy and IT
> Key Skills - how does the RDN Virtual Training Suite fit in?

> - A demonstration of the RDN Virtual Training Suite tutorials for FE

> - Hands-on sessions to enable participants to try out the tutorials for
> themselves, with guided worksheets and support from the developers

> -  Ideas for integrating RDN Virtual Training Suite in FE courses
> * Introduction to the Teaching Pack
> * Case studies from tutorial authors showing how to use the tutorials
> to:
>         -teach Key Kills in IT
>         -teach Internet skills and Information Literacy

> - Demonstration of the Resource Discovery Network: a premier JISC
> service for finding Internet resources that can support learning and
> teaching.
