PICNIC: Product Imaging and Correlation: Non-adiabatic Interactions in
Chemistry
########################################################################

PICNIC is a recently funded Research Training Network funded by the
European Commission. The proposal is concerned with the ways in which
electronically excited molecules transfer energy into other forms as the
result of non-adiabatic coupling, and links leading European
laboratories and instrument manufacturers, with appropriate and
complementary expertise in this area, to develop new experimental probes
of the dynamics of excited states.

Postdoctoral positions for up to 24 months are available in the
laboratories of Dr. Marc JJ Vrakking (FOM, Amsterdam,
[log in to unmask]), Prof. Michael NR Asfold (Bristol,
[log in to unmask]), Prof. Theofanis N. Kitsopoulos (FORTH,
Heraklion, [log in to unmask]), Prof. Hanspeter Helm (Freiburg,
[log in to unmask]), Prof. David H Parker (Nijmegen,
[log in to unmask]), Profs. Jean-Michel Mestdagh and Benoit Soep (CEA,
Saclay, [log in to unmask]), Dr. Benjamin J Whitaker (Leeds,
[log in to unmask]). Postdoctoral industrial training
opportunities for up to 12 months are also available with Photek Ltd.
(Hastings, [log in to unmask]), La Vision GmbH (Gottingen,
[log in to unmask]) and Amplitude Technologies SA, (Paris,
[log in to unmask]). There is scope to combine the research positions and
industrial training opportunities into a single job description for
interested candidates.

The positions, which are available IMMEDIATELY, are open to EU nationals
and members of associated states who hold a doctoral degree and are aged
35 years or less at the time of appointment (with an allowance made for
time spent in compulsory military service or child care). The associated
member states are: Bulgaria, Republic of Cyprus, Czech Republic,
Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia,
Slovenia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Israel.

If you wish to know more about the available positions please contact
any one of the participants or the project co-ordinator
([log in to unmask]). General information about the EU
Research Network Training programme can be found at http://www.cordis.lu
