The candidate will work on reduction, analysis and interpretation of data from the ACE (Atmospheric Chemistry Experiment) satellite at the Science Operations Center located at the University of Waterloo. The primary instrument is a high-resolution infrared Fourier transform spectrometer (FTS) (augmented by two visible imagers) that will measure atmospheric absorption spectra by solar occultation. ACE is currently scheduled for launch in January 2003. The job responsibilities will include ensuring the orderly flow of data, and data integrity as well as the development and improvement of the spectroscopic data handling software. Two ground-based instruments similar in design to the satellite FTS will also be available. Experience with high-resolution spectroscopy or atmospheric science is required.
