Apologies for multiple postings *********************************************** Integrating capability into the curriculum 12th November 2002 10-15am - 4 00pm Davies Street, London W1 Cost: 150.00 pounds Booking: http://www.cltad.ac.uk or email [log in to unmask] *********************************************** Background More than ever before, it is vital that courses of further and higher education help to prepare students for the world of work and the needs of society. In response to recommendations arising from the Dearing Report, which found that: "The single most important capacity employers seek in those with higher education qualifications is intellectual capabilities of a high order." and the subsequent QAA initiative for Personal Development Planning in Higher Education it has become increasingly necessary to re-examine our curricula. Along with discipline specific skills and knowledge, personal and professional capabilities are anticipated as "value added" outcomes of education and this can most effectively be achieved by an integrated approach. Aims This workshop aims to *give participants a clearer understanding of the QAA's requirements *consider ways to develop and refine curricula to enhance capability Outcomes At the end of this workshop it is hoped that participants will *have an increased awareness of the PDP agenda *have developed strategies to integrate capability into their own programmes of learning Participants This workshop is for anyone who is involved in the design and/or delivery of learning programmes. Workshop leader The workshop will be led by Linda Wheeler who is an educational developer at the Centre for Learning and Teaching in Art and Design. Prior to this she worked at the University of the Highlands and Islands Millennium Institute, where she was course leader for Fine Art and Design programmes. -- ************************************************ Felix Lam Co-ordinator, The Centre for Learning & Teaching in Art & Design (cltad) c/o 65 Davies Street, London W1K 5DA tel: +44 (0) 207 514 8162 (dd) fax: +44 (0) 207 514 6994 email: [log in to unmask] or [log in to unmask] http://www.cltad.ac.uk
