In recent months the use of zero shear viscosity has been considered as a possible specification parameter for asphalt binders replacing the current G*/sin delta. This parameter can be approximated to the steady state viscosity for linear visco-elastic liquids thus making it possible to obtain a good estimation of the ZSV from DSR data. The analysis procedure is very fast and easy to implement. A shareware software has been released by Abatech to allow the computation of the ZSV in this manner. The software and background information is available from http://www.abatech.com/rheazsv.htm. The software uses a small text file generated from a frequency sweep at a single temperature.
