Just a note to thank everyone for their marvellous contributions to this one. I've had to read all the pieces very carefully to transpose from e-mail to html. A very rewarding experience. BTW thanks to Alison who put the idea in my head. If I've mangled or wrangled anything please bc and I'll fix it.
