Dear Harriet

Neither can anyone else!  What black poems you are writing: but
blackly beautiful.  I wonder a lot about art's ability to do this
(make beauty out of the obscene) - beauty is merciless, no?  It
troubles me sometimes.  It also seems to me deeply what art _does_.
