RISK ANALYSTS  - post based at VLA, Addlestone, Surrey.

We are currently seeking three Risk Analysts to work as part of a team in an
exciting and challenging department.   The successful candidates will
undertake work in all aspects of risk analysis. The work of the group
currently focusses on development of risk assessment models in the fields of
national and international veterinary and public health, but also includes
varying amounts of research, methodological development and advice on hazard
identification, risk communication and risk management. Of the three posts
currently available, one will focus on the area of public health, whilst one
is likely to focus on animal health and international trade. The third focus
may be influenced by a successful applicant's previous experience in an area
of risk analysis.

The successful candidates should either demonstrate a track record of
experience and success in an aspect of risk analysis research, development
or modelling or a degree in a quantitative subject, or one with a
substantial quantitative element will be required.  An organised
methodological approach to data collection, recording and presentation of
results together with the ability to think and work logically, cope under
pressure and have good communication skills are also essential.  Experience
of project or staff management and a basic knowledge of agricultural,
veterinary or public health or biology would be an advantage.

These posts are in Pay Band D £19,500 to £29,870 per annum with progression
dependent on performance.  Starting salary will be commensurate with
qualifications and experience.  Benefits include a non-contributory pension
scheme and 25 days annual leave per annum.
