The XVII International Conference on Molecular Energy Transfer (COMET
XVII) will take place at "Euroforum Infantes" in San Lorenzo de El
Escorial, SPAIN, 15-20 June 2003. San Lorenzo de El Escorial is a small
town famous because of The Monastery, declared heritage of manking by
UNESCO. It is located in a beautiful landscape at the foothills of the
Guadarrama Mountains, 50 km north-west of Madrid. The purpose of the 2003
Symposium is to survey recent advances, undertake stimulating discussions,
generate new ideas, and map out future directions in the field of
molecular energy transfer.

The local organizing committee includes the members of the Madrid
Molecular Reaction Dynamics and Spectroscopy Group (home page
http://batracio.quim.ucm.es), of the Department of Physical Chemistry of
the Complutense University of Madrid (http://www.ucm.es) : J. Santamaria,
L. Banares, E. Verdasco, M. Menendez (Conference Secretary), J. F.
Castillo, I. Torres, J. Barr, V. J. Herrero, V. Saez Rabanos, B.
Martinez-Haya.

The scientific programme will cover a wide variety of topics by papers and
discussions:

- Dynamics of Chemical Reactions, Experiment and Theory
- Inelastic collision dynamics and state-selective energy transfer
- Energy transfer in clusters and van der Waals complexes
- Photodissociation
- Femtosecond dynamics
- Nonadiabatic processes
- Single-molecule studies of energy transfer
- Energy transfer in the condensed phase

There will be several invited talks covering the listed topics above.
Contributed papers will be presented in poster sessions with a brief
introduction by the author. A few contributions will be selected for oral
presentation as Hot Topics.
