Not a mining book but one but on a subject that has fascinated many
enthusiasts and underground explorers

Cold  War Secret Nuclear Bunkers, N J McCamley, Hardback 281pp plus
comprehensive index, this long awaited follow up to Secret Underground
Cities is finally out.

The book is packed full of information of things you may have thought of but
never dared to believe. A fairly small print has been used the book easily
have been double the size. There are plenty of well produced black and white
photos and copies of plans and layouts.

The opening  chapters concentrate on North America  including the Cheyenne
Mountain Complex, North American Radar, American Big Bunkers and Canadian
Cold War Bunkers

The book then leads nicely into the UK sites and chapters include Local
Authority Bunkers, GPO Secret Exchanges, Central Government War
Headquarters. The Royal Observer Corp , Civil Defence programme , Emergency
Regional Government.

All the information has been compiled from Public Records and official
visits, well written and easily understood. It is not just a book for
enthusiasts but for all who are vaguely curious about hidden places which
includes sites at Drakelow, Bridgend Warren Row, Preston, Swynnerton,
Somerset County Council Centre Severn Trent Emergency Bunker to name but a
few.
This is a fascinating read and I guarantee a few surprises
