The Woodhorn Colliery Museum is run by Wansbeck District Council. They
joined NAMHO in 1999, but did not renew their membership in 2001. I
understood (obviously wrongly) that they had stopped trading and that is why
they did not renew.

I have just done a google search and they have a website on
http://www.imadge.demon.co.uk/ There is quite a good précis of the
colliery's history on this site.

The google search (for 'woodhorn colliery') also turned up many other
references (over 700 it said), one of which contains quite a few interesting
photos on http://www.pitwork.net/woodhorn.htm

The WCM website mentions two books that caught my attention about the
colliery; these are:

Blood on the Coal : A History of Woodhorn Colliery by Mike Kirkup (Available
from Museum Shop Priced £2.50). ISBN 09523422 78

Ashington Coal Company : The Five Collieries by Mike Kirkup (Available from
Museum Shop Priced £9.99) ISBN 1 -902527-62-3

I expect they are also available from our local place for more books!

It certainly looks like the WCM is an interesting place to visit and I will
be writing to ask them if they would like to rejoin NAMHO.

NAMHO Treasurer
