we have a problem with a haunted house....(honest!) we got a medium in who
described a pit disaster, a cave-in she said. the miners had candles, & their
language sounded foreign to her--she came from edinburgh & knows nothing of
pits, the house is in northumberland...it might hasve been dialect. she felt
heat, dust, choking. men lining up, running, digging. she asked what other
kinds of mine were there because she didnt think this coal.then she got a
crowd of women & children, all standing in silence, facing the same way. this
must have been the pit head.the women wore shawls around their shoulders &
over their heads. the house is right on top of scremerston colliery, also
right next to a tileworks & clay pit, on a map of 1866. there is no recorded
disaster at this pit. anybody got any ideas at all on this???it driving us
mad !(i was going to haunting us, but wont...) thanks. mary.
