Ken, I can't say I've heard of montamite, may be a trade or product name. The ball clay (sedimentary kaolin)operations around Bovey had a lot of lignite so perhaps it's a clay product name ? Alternatively and in view of the Bovey locality there's an outside chance it could be a trade name for micaceous hematite ? I'd be very doubtful about it being montanite. Cheers Ian Hodkinson
