From what I have come across so far NICE seems to be basing its guidelines
on existing RCOG guidelines so its not surprising that they are so medically
biased. However the good news is that the Association of Radical Midwives is
now officially recognised as a stakeholder organisation and is able to
recommend midwives to serve on the guideline making groups so things may
change (and pigs may fly!)
