PART-TIME RESEARCH ASSISTANT (20 hours a week)
One-year fixed term contract
Salary in the range £16,594 to £18,366 pro-rata p.a. incl.

We are seeking a part-time Research Assistant to work on a European
Community-funded project Second Generation Research Agenda on the European
System of Innovation (SEGERA).  The Research Assistant will be responsible
for conducting literature and web-based searches; for assisting with field
research and analysis; for helping to organise and host international
meetings; and assisting with the preparation of reports and dissemination
materials.  

Applicants must have a degree in an area related to science, technology and
innovation policy (such as Science, Technology and Society, economics of
innovation, technology management, or history or sociology of science). You
should have experience of research, including use of the internet and on-line
databases and experience of collating and summarising information and
drafting documents.  Excellent interpersonal, analytical and organisational
skills are essential and you should be familiar with standard software
packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

The job can be undertaken by someone registered part-time for a postgraduate
degree, and offers the opportunity to participate in a thriving research
culture in the highly-rated School of Cultural and Innovation Studies (which
achieved 5 and 4 ratings in RAE 2001).
