There was no indication from the e-mail I received that it was LIS-MIDDLE-EAST. Of course I agree that it is perfectly acceptable for French to be used on this service. Had I known that the message was for the purposes of LIS-MIDDLE-EAST and not the e-mail equivalent of a prank caller, as I assumed, I would have been more circumspect. --------------------------------------- Dr. Gregory Minissale Librarian Institute of Ismaili Studies 44-46 Grosvenor Gardens London SW1W 0EB Tel: 020 7 881 6000 Fax:020 7 881 6040 [log in to unmask] ----- Original Message ----- From: <[log in to unmask]> To: <[log in to unmask]> Sent: Wednesday, July 17, 2002 12:11 PM Subject: USE OF FRENCH ON LIS-MIDDLE-EAST > Since LIS-MIDDLE-EAST is an organ of MELCOM-International, it seems > perfectly reasonable for it to carry messages in French, English or any other > European language. > > Geoffrey Roper > > Islamic Bibliography Unit > Cambridge University Library > >
