Dear Sally

I am Head of Marketing for BioMed Central and we are a small publisher that offers free open-access journals and "pay for" products and would be interested in attending your meeting.  As a small publisher I would like to here what other publishers are experiencing and also what librarians views are on your proposal.

Please let me know if I can attend.

Regards
Natasha

Subject: Calling all consortium librarians

The Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers primarily represents society and other not-for-profit publishers, the majority of which are small-to-medium-sized.  We are concerned that the 'Big Deals' which larger publishers can offer may have the unfortunate effect of squeezing out valuable and reasonably priced journals from smaller publishers.  We are therefore trying to find a way of working together to offer a collection (or, indeed, separate subject collections) of journals from our members in whatever way would be most helpful to consortia.

In order to learn exactly what consortia would like from ALPSP, we would like to hear the views of librarians who work with consortia.  The UKSG conference seems an ideal opportunity to do this, and we have therefore arranged to hold a lunch meeting from 12.35-2pm on Monday 15 April.  If you will be at the conference and are interested in attending, please let me know at [log in to unmask]

I look forward to meeting you and to hearing your views.

Many thanks

Sally
