NEW CHALLENGES - NEW OPPORTUNITIES?
CAREER AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT IN A CHANGING PROFESSION
Wednesday 6th February 2002
2.30 p.m.-4.30 p.m.
North East Surrey College of Technology, Ewell
Speaker:
Head of the Professional Qualifications Department at the Library Association
SLAIG is holding a free afternoon meeting devoted to career and personal development in a rapidly changing library and information sector. How do librarians, information workers and library staff generally, confront the challenges and make the most of the new opportunities in a profession where the demands on our skills and expertise continue to change so dramatically from year to year? Marion Huckle is ideally placed to talk about the changing nature of training and professional development within the sector, particularly in the light of the impending merger of the Library Association and the Institute of Information Scientists and the birth of the Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals. This meeting will be of interest to all those working in the library and information sector in Surrey and the surrounding area, and there is no restriction on who may attend a SLAIG meeting.
Venue: Learning Resources Centre, Nescot, Reigate Road, Ewell, Surrey
Refreshments available from 2.00 p.m.
