A new magazine on learning and teaching in higher education, entitled
Exchange, is due to be launched on 25 March. The ILT is one of the partners
involved in its genesis and is represented on the Editorial Board together
with the Learning and Teaching Support Network (LTSN), the National
Co-ordination Team (NCT), the National Disability Team (NDT), Action on
Access and JISC (Joint information Systems Committee). Exchange is designed
for decision-makers in HE responsible for managing change, as well as those
who are responsible for promoting change in learning and teaching, for
example as educational developers, staff developers or learning and teaching
co-ordinators. It is not an academic journal for educational specialists,
but a news- and opinion-led publication intended to stimulate the exchange
of ideas and inspire change. We hope it will provide you with topical,
relevant, accessible and concise information.

The first issue, guest edited by Jill Armstrong of the LTSN Generic Centre,
will focus on 'Student Retention and Student Success', and will feature
articles on improving student retention, 'Who is failing? Defining student
failure' and 'Assessment: the key to a richer learning experience in
Semester 1'.

Copies are being sent to Vice-Chancellors and Principals,
Pro-Vice-Chancellors for Learning & Teaching, Heads of Educational
Development Units and university and college libraries. But if you would
like your own free copy, or extra copies to pass on to your colleagues,
please email [log in to unmask] and we will add you to our distribution
list. The magazine will also be published electronically at
http://www.exchange.ac.uk on 25 March.
