Dear colleagues,

If you intend to go to the IGC in Florence in 2004 and you haven't made up your mind about field trips yet, check this one:
Post-conference field trip P 61 in the first circular (printed version, or under www.32igc.org/firstcircular-field.htm).

This field trip to southern Tuscany (Monte Argentario, Isola del Giglio) integrates a broad spectrum of geological observations (petrology, structural geology, tectonics, lithofacies), each contributing to the understanding of the crustal dynamics in the Northern Apennines section of the Alps-Apennines orogen. Metamorphic-petrological aspects include polymetamorphic oceanic crust showing a late blueschist overprint, and HP-LT metamorphism of continental metasediments. But this is only part of the story....

The trip is organised by myself, Holger Stuenitz from University of Basel (due to some unfortunate errror, he was not included in the leaders list of the first circular), Federico Rossetti, Claudio Faccenna and Fabrizio Storti from Universita di Roma Tre.

Remember that the IGC organisers would like to have a response to the first circular by the end of this month.
