Dear colleagues,
our department recently received a sample of spongy graphite. Under the
lens it has a pumice-like texture indicating it has been in a molten state.
This, however, appears to be unlikely considering the extreme T required.
Our best guess so far is that this could be a result of lightening strike.
Does this sound likely? Have any of you heard of a similar phenomenon?
