Dear All, I hope you have all had a restful and productive summer. The new academic term will be starting in a few weeks and the GRR seminar programme will be kicking off on the 2nd October. The seminar will be taking place at a new time and day this year--Wednesdays, 11:00-13:00 in Rm 336. We are planning to focus the programme on a more regional basis this year and so the first term will look at gender and religions research in Africa, with the reading group organised to reflect this emphasis. The second term will focus on Chinese religions. The programme will be available shortly and will be emailed to you as well as posted on bulletin boards around SOAS and in the SOAS weekly programme sheet. I am delighted to announce that we now have a website where lots of information about the Centre and it's activities (including full details of the seminar programme), and a list of useful links in the area of gender and religions research, can be found. The address is http://www.soas.ac.uk/Religions/grr/index.html. Please have a look at it and get back to me with any comments or criticisms. The site will be developed over the coming year and I hope that it becomes a useful resource for you. Julia Leslie, the Chair of the Centre, will continue to be on sabbatical leave this year and I have agreed to carry on as the Acting Chair in the meantime. Tamsin Bradley is coordinating the seminar programme with Fang Long Shih and we are very grateful for their excellent contributions. If you would like to be removed from this GRR mailing list please let me know. I look forward to welcoming you to the Centre this year. With very best wishes, Sian Hawthorne _________________________________________________________________ Join the world’s largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com
