I have attached both files. > >Can you advise please? > >Thank you > >Information Services >University of Abertay Dundee The Edinburgh International Conference Centre, February 9th 12th 2003 Scottish Enterprise, the national economic development agency for Scotland, is hosting a major international conference designed to facilitate an open and honest discussion among practitioners, consultants, academics and government officials on global developments and “promising practices” and products in eLearning. The conference has attracted a large number of world-renowned keynote speakers and track speakers from four continents, including representatives of business, government and the academy. This is an event that we believe will help those attending gain a deep understanding of eLearning and the eLearning industry and also one where important networks and collaborations will be built. The conference and related exhibition will also showcase leading edge applications of eLearning in the world of business, education, science and technology. Given the quality of the presenters and their collective experience in eLearning, training and education, we believe this will be a high profile event that will attract a large international audience. As such, it is a “must attend” for those who wish to extend their knowledge and “get beyond the hype” in understanding the future for eLearning. · Keynote Sessions. We have brought together a number of major international figures and authorities on eLearning to present their views in keynote sessions and to discuss the future of online developments with the audience. · Themed Tracks. The conference also has a number of themed tracks, including a mapping out of the present eLearning “territory”, the effect of cultural and business system differences on eLearning, a look into future technologies and uses for eLearning, the impact on higher and further education, workplace learning and knowledge management, supporting the eLearner, and evaluating the impact of eLearning. · Refereed Papers. We have also introduced a refereed paper track for reflective practitioners and academics from all over the world to present and discuss their views on the conference themes. These papers will be assessed by an international panel of advisors for their new insights into eLearning in organizations and for their contribution to practice. Substantial prizes will be awarded to the best papers. · Networking. Finally, it will also be a great opportunity to network with leading figures in the corporate, consulting and academic world and with each other in roundtable sessions, the selected exhibition area, and during organized visits to Scottish eLearning companies and providers. Keynote speakers · Viviane Reding is European Commissioner for Education and Culture, with a special responsibility for the European Union’s eLearning Action Plan. Viviane recently led a European eLearning Summit which brought together a number of the world’s leading companies with an interest in eLearning to form an group to accelerate the deployment of eLearning in Europe. · Elliott Masie is an internationally recognized figure in eLearning and a speaker, futurist, author and consultant on the critical topics of technology, business, (e)learning and workplace productivity. He heads The MASIE Center, a think tank focused on how organizations can absorb technology and create continuous learning and knowledge within the workforce. · Professor Shirley Alexander is Director of the Institute for Interactive Multimedia, University of Technology, Sydney. She is a distinguished researcher and author in online learning in Australisia and Asia, with a focus on supporting the eLearner. Shirley has written reports for the Australian government on eLearning and has recently co-chaired a major conference on the topic. · Dr. John Seely Brown divides his time between being the Chief Scientist of Xerox and the Chief Innovation Officer of 12 Entrepreneuring, a recently formed entrepreneurial operating company. He is one of the world’s leading authorities on workplace learning and has written a number of award winning articles for journals such as the Harvard Business Review and authored books such as The Social Life of Information for the Harvard Business Press. · Professor Roger C. Schank is one of the world’s leading researchers in artificial intelligence learning theory, cognitive sciences and the building of virtual learning environments. Roger is Distinguished Profesor at the School of Computer Sciences at Carnegie Mellon and John Evans Professor Emeritus in computer science, learning theory and psychology at Northwestern University in Chicago. He is author of more than 25 books, including his latest one entitled Designing World Class E- Learning. · Professor Thomas Clarke is Head of the School of Management and Professor of Management at the University of Technology, Sydney. Thomas has authored numerous books and articles, including special editions ofjournals on eLearning and Knowledge Management. With Stewart Clegg he published Changing Paradigms: The transformation of management knowledge in the 21st Century. Recently he has worked closely with Standards Australia on a new management standard for knowledge management, and with Christine Rollo wrote, International Best Practice: Case Studies in Knowledge Management. · Martyn Sloman currently works for the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development as Adviser, Learning, Training and Development. He is an author, lecturer and conference speaker of renown and has recently published a book entitled the E-Learning Revolution for the CIPD in 2001. Martyn is a visiting teaching fellow at the University of London and has taught in the US and New Zealand. · Marc Prensky is one of the world’s leading experts in showing companies how to combine the fun of technology with the content of business training. A Harvard MBA and author of Digital Game-Based Learning, Marc has worked with companies such as Nortel, IBM, Avon and Bankers Trust to implement original and provocative ideas to eLearning. Adrian Snook is Director of the Training Foundation. He has authored a number of publications on eLearning, including a competence framework for eLearning professionals in the IT industry · Steffan Van Hooydonk is Director of eLearning for Nokia and is responsible for Nokia global eLearning vision. Prior to moving to Helsinki, he was responsible for Nokia’s corporate university in Greater China · Stefan De Jong is Director of the Shell Open University, which received an award in the 2001 Financial Times/Corporate University Xchange for its launch. · Brian Mueller is Vice President of the University of Phoenix’s Online Programme, one of the largest online programmes in US higher education and corporate training. · Brian McLaren is Head of Training and Online Learning for the Royal Bank of Scotland Group's eLearning vision and operations. The Royal Bank is the Europe’s second largest bank and is also the world’s fifth largest bank, with 111,000 employees, 10% of which are based in the US. The RBSG are noted in the UK for its eLearning operations and Brian has written a number of articles on their strategy. · Jane Massy is a consultant to organisations adopting and supplying eLearning in the private/public sectors. Best known as a European eLearning industry analyst, combining knowledge of training, labour market, employment & technology systems, she reports on web surveys on eLearning supply/demand and issues such as quality & teacher/trainer skills, published by the ETV (CEDEFOP). She is a board member of ASTD and on the academic council of Icus Pte. · Professor Ronald Harden is Director of the Centre for Medical Education at the University of Dundee and is the founder of IVIMEDS, the International Virtual medical School, which is a unique collaboration among more than 50 medical schools in Australasia, Europe, South America, the Middle East and Far East. The aims of IVIMEDS are to provide a unique global perspective on medical education by applying new approaches to · Professor He Ke Kang is one of China’s leading eLearning experts and is Director of the Institute of Educational Technology, Beijing Normal University and Director of the National Experts Panel of Information Specialists on Teacher Education. · Dr. Jonathan Darby has recently taken up a senior position in the eUniversity in England. Prior to his appointment he was responsible for the online element for the University of Oxford’s extensive outreach programme. Dr Graeme Martin is Director of Research at the Dundee Business School and Visiting Professor in HR at the Universities of Colorado in Denver and Lulea in Sweden, where he teaches online graduate programmes in management.
