What about an agreement that if there is no justification for absences up to
a limit of days/weeks, the funding from LEA authority could be
suspended/shifted and the bill would be sent from the University's finance
department to him/her from then on. In this way we do not affect the
employee whose means of living would be altered by the lack of care from
some students! Hope this helps

This isn't an official policy, but if a student doesn't turn up for 3
consecutive weeks, then we suspended the support (and the
note-taker/support tutor's hours are similarly suspended) until the student
resumes support. Very unsatisfactory all round really but I don't know how
we could possibly justify claiming for any longer than 3 weeks (and trying
to gain contact during that time) if a student doesn't attend the lessons.
Any suggestions welcomed!

Concerning 'absentee' students, what policy do other institutions adopt if
a student fails - for whatever reason - to turn up for a study skills /
support session with a tutor who is paid on hourly rates..... via claim
from DSA?
