40 weeks pa, 18 hours per week

The Disability Support Unit requires a suitably qualified and experienced
person to assist the Disability Support Co-ordinator to develop and
co-ordinate a quality support service to students with disabilities. You
will have a proactive, practical approach to the provision of advice and
support for individual students, with some experience of work with people
with disabilities. It is important that you should be highly self-motivated
and well-organised, with real drive and enthusiasm for disability issues,
and a genuine commitment to equal opportunities. Some experience of work
with dyslexia students is essential.


Good interpersonal skills are essential, as you will be offering advice and
training to disabled students and liaising with University departments and
services. Other useful skills will include record keeping skills with a
knowledge of computer databases. You will, on occasions, deputise for the
Disability Support Co-ordinator. Excellent interpersonal, communication and
organisational skills are essential together with experience of enabling and
information technology and the ability to work as part of a team.
