We do the same here if the student is absent for disability related reasons. Gets a bit of a problem if they are ill with something else. If the absences were protracted, this might have to be reconsidered, but I can't see a problem so long as educational standards aren't compromised. The student in question has a medical condition which means that her joints / mobility are / is affected from time to time and she is unable to attend college. She has a note taker (funded through her DSA) and the needs assessment strongly recommended that the note taker takes notes even in her absence. This has resulted in some debate here. I would be happy to hear from others who have experienced a similar situation or even have a policy to cover such eventualities. Many thanks Pat Patricia Culshaw Special Needs Officer Student Services St.Mary's College Waldegrave Road, Strawberry Hill, Twickenham TW1 4SX 020 8240 4353
