RESEARCH ASSOCIATE - Copyright and licensing for digital preservation
£17,626 - £19,681 per annum Temporary for Eighteen Months
A Research Associate is required to work on this eighteen month Arts and Humanities Research Board funded project The project will investigate the impact of copyright legislation and licensing agreements on the ability of libraries to provide long-term access to digital content. In particular it hopes to suggest ways in which any problems can be overcome. The project involves the use a variety of research techniques including desk research, questionnaire surveys, interviews and focus groups.
Applicants should have a good first degree in a related discipline and previous experience of research, preferably including the development and application of research instruments. Good verbal and written communication skills are essential. An ability to deal confidently with people at all levels of staff up to senior management level, will also be required. An understanding or knowledge of UK intellectual property right law, digital preservation issues and electronic publishing would be an advantage. The person appointed will be expected to work independently, under the supervision of the Project Director, Adrienne Muir. The post is based in Loughborough, but will involve some travelling in the UK and perhaps abroad.
The successful candidate should be available to commence on 1 September 2002.
