Anyone recognise an old poem beginning?---

Lilac and green of the sky
Brown of the broken earth
Apple trees whitening high
May and the summer's breath.

Pleasant lady who runs a bookshop in Castletownbearehaven asked my if I'd
identify it for her, she learned it at school, etc. There might be
mistakes in this transcription. Funny colour for the sky really, even in
County Cork, and the syntax latterly is unsteady. Or is this alienation
creeping in?
