Call For Papers
BARS Postgraduate Conference 2 November 2002: 'Romantic Performances'
Centre for Eighteenth-Century Studies, University of York

250-300 word abstracts on any issue related to Romanticism and the
concept
of 'Performance' are welcomed for papers to be presented at this
year's
Postgraduate Conference.  Subjects covered may include the relation
between
Romantic writers and the stage, the anxiety about the opposition
between
reading and performance, the search for and use of dramatic form in
the
period, texts as stages for the creation of a projected 'self', or the

possibility that Romanticism itself could be seen as a 'performance.'

Abstracts must be received, by post or preferably as email attachments
in MS
Word format, by 31st July 2002.  Please send them to James Disley
