House of Lords Record Office (The Parliamentary Archives)

Assistant Records Managers (2 permanent posts)

£17,186 - £23,155

The House of Lords Record Office (the Parliamentary Archives) has an
exciting opportunity for two enthusiastic archivists/records managers. We
are implementing a records management strategy robust enough to meet the
challenges of Freedom of Information and Data Protection legislation,
electronic record-keeping, and the modernisation of both Houses of
Parliament. The strategy includes the implementation and maintenance of a
classification scheme for use across Parliament, the introduction of
disposal authorities/retention schedules, and the development of tools to
support electronic working.

Reporting to the Parliamentary Records Manager, you will provide training
and other support to staff from both Houses. You will assist in researching
and compiling disposal authorities. You will also advise on and undertake
appraisal, identifying those records worthy of permanent preservation in the
Parliamentary Archives. You will provide support for the implementation of
the Freedom of Information and Data Protection Acts in the House of Lords.

You will have a postgraduate qualification in archives and/or records
management, and be able to talk enthusiastically about your work. You should
have a sound knowledge of records management issues; experience of
Windows-based software and Microsoft Word; excellent team-working skills; be
self-motivated and have experience of delivering results on time.

Salary range £17,186 - £23,155 per annum, depending on experience and
qualifications.

Benefits of House of Lords employees include membership of a generous final
salary staff pension scheme, 6 weeks annual holiday entitlement and
assistance for childcare.

For further details and an application form please write to the
Establishment Office, House of Lords, London, SW1A 0PW, or e-mail

have not been shortlisted for interview.
