We are implementing a records management strategy robust enough to meet the challenges of Freedom of Information and Data Protection legislation, electronic record-keeping, and the modernisation of both Houses of Parliament. The strategy includes the implementation and maintenance of a classification scheme for use across Parliament, the introduction of disposal authorities/retention schedules, and the development of tools to support electronic working. Reporting to the Parliamentary Records Manager, you will provide training and other support to staff from both Houses. You will assist in researching and compiling disposal authorities. You will also advise on and undertake appraisal, identifying those records worthy of permanent preservation in the Parliamentary Archives. You will provide support for the implementation of the Freedom of Information and Data Protection Acts in the House of Lords. You will have a postgraduate qualification in archives and/or records management, and be able to talk enthusiastically about your work. You should have a sound knowledge of records management issues; experience of Windows-based software and Microsoft Word; excellent team-working skills; be self-motivated and have experience of delivering results on time. Salary range £17,186 - £23,155 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
