Colleagues

Following the initial success of Research Resources in Medical History, the
Wellcome Trust is pleased to announce the extension of the grants scheme for
a further two years. £1 million will be made available over two years in
2003 and 2004. The Wellcome Trust would like to invite preliminary
applications to the scheme to be submitted by 1 October 2002.

Research Resources in Medical History aims to support the preservation of
materials of interest to medical historians and improve access to these and
other medically important collections. The scheme is open to any type of
institution in the UK and welcomes proposals that centre on:

-cataloguing from source materials
-converting catalogues to electronic formats
-creating new gateways to, or surveys of, collections
-conservation work to save fragile and damaged materials
-cataloguing or conservation of important photographic collections
-projects based on contemporary records
-digitisation of original materials.

For full details of how to apply and for further information about the
scheme, please see http://www.bl.uk/concord/medical-about.html
